What was built
The Liverpool structure took its shape from Liverpool Castle, which stood at the top of what is now Lord Street and is thought to have been built early in the 13th century, around the 1230s. Volunteers raised the castle in the heart of the city centre at Williamson Square, working with artist Olivier Grossetête and his team.

What happened on the Saturday
From midday until 6pm, families found a fairy tale programme in the square. Knights in shining armour, juggling and stilt walking jesters, princes, princesses, kings, queens and a dragon entertained the crowds. Storytelling ran throughout the day, with live music supplying a medieval soundtrack to the activities.
Bringing it down
The castle came down at 5pm on the Sunday, and the crowd was invited to join in. As with every Lost Castles build, the cardboard was responsibly recycled afterwards.
